Worcester Western Cape South Africa

Snow and sunshine in the Worcester region
In the winter, Worcester in the Western Cape has snow on the mountains and some amazing sunny days. We spent the day visiting wine farms in the area for wine tasting and gourmet food.
Interesting contribution and a striking photograph of the snow covered mountains.
Worcester is 120 kms from Cape Town or little more than an hours drive along the N1 motorway. Once past the Boland town of Paarl you have a choice of taking the toll road through the modern Hugenot Tunnel which bores under the Klein Drakenstein mountain range, or the longer route via the scenic Du Toit's Kloof mountain pass.
The market town of Worcester is surrounded by three mountain ranges and bordered by two rivers. It is the centre of the largest wine producing area in the country and it has plenty of cultural history to offer visitors as displayed through various museums and places of interest in the town. There are also many historical buildings to be found along the tree lined streets.
